Erectile Dysfunction, also known as “ED,” “Impotence,” or “sexual dysfunction,” is a condition where a male does not have the capability to, or has difficulty, attaining and/or maintaining an erection. It is a problem with the male penis that could really interrupt your life in the bedroom, when you should be obtaining an erection, and it can even have a negative impact on your sex drive. Erectile Dysfunction is very common, more than you would think, and happens more often in older men than in younger men, however it does not occur naturally in the aging process.
Although it is sometimes incredibly awkward and difficult to speak with your doctor about sex or your sex life, it is extremely necessary if you have Erectile Dysfunction, as it can lead to other health problems, and can even be a sign of problems with the body such as clogged blood vessels, or if damage has been done to your body if you have diabetes. If a medical professional does not examine the condition, these issues will go without any treatment and could cause the condition to worsen.
Even though it may be assumed that treatment for Erectile Dysfunction is a very frightening, painful thing… it is most definitely not! There are several cures that can be administered for Erectile Dysfunction, and it can be as simple as taking a pill! Isn’t that pretty easy? Other treatments for the condition could be exercising more often, shedding some pounds, or to quit smoking if you are a smoker. Sometimes, Erectile Dysfunction goes away by itself, but that is not to be used as an excuse to not visit a doctor. It will most likely be a more urgent if this condition arises after you have had a surgery such as prostate surgery, and if you have pain in the abdomen-to-buttocks area.
When visiting a professional on the topic, it is common that they will assess you on things like your nervous system, your overnight erections, your urine, psychological health, blood, etc. It is also common for them to ask questions about your sex life, and about things that I mentioned earlier that may impact someone’s Erectile Dysfunction.
Keep in mind that if you are taking medicine for ED, and you obtain an erection lasting more than four hours from it, see a doctor immediately, as this is a problem. If you have ED, don’t be ashamed! It is very common and is easily treated and abolished.
